Entitled "Family". Directed by the critically acclaimed and award winning film director, Yasmin Ahmad, and commissioned by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports "MCYS".
It’s a simple commercial with one simple message. love that is found in the family.
Yasmin is indeed a true storyteller, who uses unconventional, or rather, imperfect characters to tell universal tales of humanity. MCYS could have chosen to tell the story in the usual way of featuring your regular nuclear family. Two parents, two children and a dog, but they chose Yasmin tell the story in a more realistic way featuring only a Father and a Daughter. The clip potrays a little girl who is spoilt with only the love from her father. She demands for whatever she desires like for eg the shoe , knowing that her father would buy it for her to make her happy. She realised that as she got older, it was more difficult to get what she wanted and she didn't understand her father's position into buying the cheaper shoe for her first date. The father might be having financial difficulties or feel that it is not a neccessity ? However, she was touched by the non verbal cues she used in the clip by kissing her father and touching his forehead when he mended the shoe for her when the heels broke. Now that the girl is all grown up, she realised that all the materialistic items she wanted from her dad wasn't the best. It was the love that he had for her that bought her all those materialistic items.
i feel that the film doesn’t have such a family. It just consists of a father and a daughter. The family seems incomplete and thus imperfect and the girl a little spoiled yet I think it captures the way we experience our family relations for most, if not all, of us.

i would definately relate to this advert very well as i was brought up by my father only.. sometimes, it gets very difficult for me as i feel something in my life is still missing
yes like the advert you're missing the love from your mother thus it will reflect on yourself :)
i love the video, its very sad.
haha its very touching not sad!
i watched it too! if i do remember correctly is was on tvmobile when i watched it for the first time! really had the urge to go home and treasure my parents!
yess tv mobile. i love the clip and i feel the urge to give my parents a hug. i'm glad to have a complete family :)
This video deserves the ‘kids, better treasure what you have now and not continuously asking for more.’ Award. I have this sober feels when I saw this video. It reminds me of how I used to ask my parents to buy me things that I wanted. Although not every time my parents would give in to me, I never stopped asking for more. I realized, I spend most of my cash on items that I do not need it. Economics standards are raising and things that we used to be able to afford ourselves no longer able to do it now. This video is to remind you, kids, out there to stop taking things for granted. Treasure what you have instead and pay more attentions to those who need it more than you do, kids!
haha i guess so! but this clip also represents love. i realized that our parents love is definate and they would always be there for you when you need them. for eg, the father helping the daughter mend the broken shoe. the girl herself was touched by her father's love.
